On August 21, the high-end, intelligent and green AION Changsha smart eco-Factory was officially completed and put into production, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 new energy vehicles. Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, attended the event and announced the completion of the project. Xie Jianhui, Party Member of Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress and Head of the new energy industry chain, Zhou Haibing, Vice Governor of Hunan Province and Mayor of Changsha, Qu Hai, Secretary-General of Hunan Provincial Government, Feng Xingya, President of GAC Group, Gu Huinan, President of AION and other leaders attended the ceremony.

Under the full support of CPC Committees and government departments at all levels in Hunan, as well as the elaborate planning and strategic deployment of GAC Group, AION revamped the former GAC Mitsubishi fuel vehicle production line by fully employing the leading smart manufacturing technology of global lighthouse plant, achieving a qualitative leap in terms of intelligence, digitization, energy conservation and environmental protection. AION aims to build the factory into a new benchmark of intelligent manufacturing in Hunan Province.

 

By giving full play to the leading role of the “chain master” in the industrial chain, and through the strategy of building factories and supporting facilities nearby, AION has effectively activated the local industrial chains and drawn nearly 30  suppliers by 2024, laying a solid foundation for establishing a 100-billion-level auto industry cluster.

 

 

In addition, AION has expanded the factory function by shaping it into an industrial tourism base. In addition to its main business, the factory also serves as a platform for college students to study intelligent manufacturing and a technology experience space for family during weekend tours. The factory provides robot intelligent manufacturing observation, a close contact with China's No. 1 mass-produced supercar HYPTEC SSR, and other engaging activities, promoting the fusion of science and technology with culture.

 

 

The completion and operation of GAC AION Changsha Smart Eco-Factory marks solid progress in GAC AION's layout of new energy market in China. The factory will greatly boost the innovation and industrial upgrading of new energy auto technology in Hunan, and further influence the central and even northwestern regions of China with Hunan as the core, thus assisting GAC AION in realizing high-speed and high-quality development for a new chapter.
